Florence Cowdin Peto (1881-1970) was an influential and well-respected quilt historian, author, lecturer and quilter whose mission was to document historic quilts and to investigate the quiltmaker. She had a passion for gathering the histories of the quiltmaker by sifting through family records, diaries and papers believing the person was every bit as important as the quilt.
Florence collected antique textile samples and often incorporated them into her quilts using a distinctive style. She used the collection to create her signature floral vine appliqu borders, elaborate broderie perse and fussy cuts flowers became a style that we much admire today.
You will begin to learn much more of her and her passion as this series of fabric collections from the Florence Peto quilts unfolds. Enjoy the process. She would want you to!
